Dog grooming table height guide

Use task posture and elbow position to reduce reaching and bending.

Start near the groomer’s elbow

For body work, a useful trial position places the working area modestly below elbow height with shoulders relaxed. The correct deck height changes with the dog’s body height, not just the groomer.

Different tasks need different positions

Face detail may be easier higher, while feet and underside work may need a lower position. Powered or hydraulic adjustment is valuable when those changes happen repeatedly across a session.

Watch posture during real handling

A calculated height is only a starting point. Reassess reaching, wrist angle, visibility and the dog’s stability after the animal is positioned, and stop if either participant is uncomfortable.
